Enrich Your Life with Thanksgiving

America celebrates Thanksgiving this month.  But this should not just be an American celebration done once a year, it should be a global celebration done every day.  Christ followers and non-Christ followers should live a life of thanksgiving for the gift of life, salvation health, finance, relationship, career, business opportunities, talents, time and so on.

I recall a time in my life when I was not a thankful person.  Back then, I was in the league of complainers.  I had the spirit of entitlement and nothing was ever good enough.  Looking back, I know now that this vile spirit is an abomination to the Lord.  I am now a recipient of the promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here”!

My friends, why is it important for us to live a life of thanksgiving?

  • Because it pleases God – He expects us to thank Him and show gratitude for everything that happens in our lives – good or bad because He often uses the difficult situations in our lives to strengthen our faith and encourage people around us (Romans 8:28) and we are to continually show appreciation for all things and be anxious for nothing (Philippians 4:6).

  • It helps us receive immediate response from God through prayer – the story of King Solomon comes to mind – he was so generous in his thanksgiving to God, and God responded to Solomon by giving him even the things he did not ask for – Imagine receiving a blank check to write the amount you want on it – how cool that is! (2 Chronicles 1:7-12).

  • We acknowledge that God owns everything – our life, money, possessions, talents and time. We are only managers of God’s resources (Psalm 24:1)

Christ follower, daily enrich your life with thanksgivings and give God the glory and honor that is rightly His. If you are currently not a Christ follower, the first step is to accept Him as your Lord and Savior and He will bless you with a thankful heart.

All glory to God!
