Living a Fulfilled Life
[Guest post by Ifeoma Samuel: Ifeoma is back to share her insight on living a fulfilled life. And on March 15th, she releases her new book, My 30 Days Journey To a Fulfilled Life.]
I don’t want to wake up one morning and feel empty, like I watched my life pass on without me. With wrinkles lined on my face, no one to smile at because we have nothing in common and everyone else has moved on with their lives. And have no place to go because I had sat in front of my TV for years. Neither do I want to live a life filled with regrets of things I ought to have done and didn’t do or people I had to reach out to but I failed to.
Do you know what I like instead?
I relish the scene of walking down the river bank carefree, watching the peaceful waves with no thoughts and worries in my heart. I love the peace and silence we experience, when all the noise is stopped.
No hustle and bustle of where our next meal will come from, or the thoughts of when things are ever going to get sorted out in our families.
The tranquility we feel when we appreciate all the moments in our lives both great and small. It is the beautiful picture God paints with our lives that give us fulfillment.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
That is the peace I want to experience; the peace that comes from living a fulfilled life, the peace only God can offer to us. The peace we receive when we choose to trust Him.
Now, you get the picture.
The picture is a life worth living again if you had a choice.
Like very many of us, we wish having great jobs, marrying successful men, great kids running around our front yard, and more than enough cash stashed away in the bank were all we need to make us fulfilled.
- Are they really enough to make us have that sense of satisfaction, contentment and fulfillment in life?
- Can all these gains and goods bring warm smiles that can last till our faces our wrinkled?
- Can I lie on my bed, feel a sense of accomplishment and make a sigh, relieved that I have fully given out all God has deposited in my life?
When your heart yearns for more out of life, then your hunger for fulfillment kicks in.
The world says more of everything will make you happy – More pleasure, more makeup, more fortune, more entertainment more education more and more.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36
This is a carefully constructed lie of the enemy to distract us from seeking God’s way.
The more of God’s love poured into my life is the more full and filled I will be.
I’d like to think our lives are as vessels waiting to be filled up. When we allow God fill our lives then we are full and filled up.
Did you get that? Full-Filled
Thus, fulfillment embraces every area of our lives. Enjoy a life full and filled.
