Devote Yourself!

devote yourself devotional diva christian blog for womenDevotional Diva will be getting a new look in the very near future (yay!), so I thought now was as good a time as any to introduce you to a new tagline I’ve come up with for the site.

I’ve been playing around with this for a while in my head… “Devote Yourself.”

To be completely honest, the inspiration came from the “Treat Yo’ Self” episode of the show “Parks and Recreation.”

Sometimes I sneakily used it as a hashtag on my Instagram (#devoteyourself, sometimes even #devoteyoself for extra giggles), just to see how it looked. I decided I like it, and I (seriously) think it perfectly describes what we do here on DD.

When a woman creates a post for us, she’s creating a devotional to help other women. (I say ‘create’ instead of ‘write’ because, although most of our posts are written, I accept all kinds of other posts like songs, video and photography too!)

A lot of the time, it’s not so easy to share some things on here, even when you know God has put it on your heart. But, in the Devotional Diva tradition of spurring others forward (Heb. 10:24), you devote yourself to creating a post.

I have so much respect for all the women who have bravely shared their stories on Devotional Diva. It does take courage to put yourself out there. But again, you all did it because you devoted yourself, your heart and your soul to helping other ladies out there.

We tackle a lot of topics on DD; Some are pretty serious, some are a little controversial, and some are perhaps more lighthearted. However, they all make a difference.

Devotional Diva readers come from all across the globe, which is pretty amazing. We all have our own unique stories to tell, but so many of us have gone through similar things. That’s why, even though DD readers are so spread out, we can help each other through sharing.

I think “Devote Yourself” works for the reading aspect of Devotional Diva, too, because if you devote yourself to reading/viewing the posts, you’ll be encouraged and grow in your relationship with Christ. Both very good outcomes, indeed!

In closing, I would just like to share the actual definitions of “devote” and “devotional” to ponder upon:

1. to give up or appropriate to or concentrate on a particular pursuit,occupation, purpose, cause, etc.:

to devote one’s time to reading.

2. to appropriate by or as if by a vow; set apart or dedicate by a solemnor formal act; consecrate:

She devoted her life to God.

a short religious service

I hope you devote yourself on Devotional Diva!
