I Love My Body – Quitter
[Guest Post by Aurora Vilchis] – I quit. I have no intention on returning and I won’t even care if you call me a quitter.
You know why?
I quit the club. The club of self hatred, self loathing and self focus.
You’ve been there, a bunch of gals get together and suddenly it becomes one big hate feast; one hates her thighs, another her ears, something too big, not tight enough, too small.
I thought that I had to join in because I’m a girl.
But then it hit me.
The light bulb turned on.
It is true that they say we will do anything to be healthy except eat right and exercise.
The moment that I realized being healthy wasn’t about me, myself and I was the moment it all changed.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reads, “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
We have an obligation to Christ, our children, ourselves to treat our body with care.
If someone had given you an expensive car, a home, or a boat you’d treat it with care.
God has given us bodies.
Working, able, beautiful bodies.
Whether you are just starting to work out, take seriously the power you have to change your own self or are consistent with where you are at, love it.
Embrace the body and life that Christ has given you and use it to better serve others and ultimately Him.
When we finally know that we are living a life beyond ourselves is the time when we can confidently say “I love my body”.
Because it’s true.
